Petaluma’s the place for Valentine romance

You don’t necessarily need a sweetheart to have fun on Feb. 14. Plenty of events are planned in town for romantics, those looking for love and those who just want to go out and have a good time.

Valentine’s Day ball

The Farmers Guild is hosting a Valentine’s Day ball from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building, 1094 Petaluma Blvd. South.

The event features auctions, kissing booths and other festivities, along with an organic whole-hog cookout and beverages for sale. Vegetarian options are available.

La Guingette Trio

Sonoma County-based La Guingette Trio brings the sounds of 1900s French street cafes to Petaluma in a 7 p.m. concert on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Aqus Cafe Foundry Wharf, 189 H St.

Valentine’s Day concert

Sky Hill Cultural Alliance and the Petaluma Museum Association host “Music Inspired by Love,” a Valentine’s Day concert of classical music beginning at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 at the museum, 20 Fourth St.

The evening featuring music inspired by love by Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms and Bruch. Soprano Carol Menke will be performing with Jennifer Sills on viola, Roy Zajac on clarinet and Elizabeth Walter on piano.

Tickets are $25 for downstairs seating, $40 for balcony seating with beverage service.

Elaine Lucia

Bay Area jazz singer-songwriter and guitarist Elaine Lucia performs her elegant and eclectic repertoire of jazz and original music, with songs selected for a Valentine’s Day dinner show, at The Big Easy, 128 American Alley.

Lucia’s quintet features musicians Frank Martin on piano; Pierre Archain on bass; Kendrick Freeman on bass, and Gerry Grosz on vibraphone.

The five-course dinner will feature seasonal menu items, including vegetarian options. There will be two dinner seatings: 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $65 per person. A wine pairing menu is available for an additional $25 per person. Reservations are required.

Valentine’s Day with the Monophonics

Zodiacs hosts a Valentine’s Day ball with the Monophonics starting at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

Raised amid the rich musical culture and history of the San Francisco Bay Area, Monophonics play their own brand of music known as “Psychedelic Soul.” The 2012 release of Monophonics’ last album “In Your Brain” saw the band pulling influences from such acts as early Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone and the The Temptation’s Norman Whit?eld produced records. With the new album, “Sound of Sinning,” the band has grown in all areas of record making and felt a need to explore other important influences.

Also performing is soul music band Gene Washington & The Ironsides.

Tickets are $15 to $18. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
