Teen decoy buys alcohol at 10 of 11 Petaluma establishments
An underage decoy successfully purchased alcohol at eight of 11 establishments in Petaluma Saturday as part of a sting coordinated by the Petaluma Police Department.
Employees at 10 of the 11 establishments carded the decoy, but six employees only glanced briefly at the 18-year-old’s ID, a news release from the Police Department said.
No arrests were made in the compliance checks. The purpose was instead to teach employees best practices in selling alcohol, the release said.
The three employees who did not sell alcohol to the minor had all participated in Responsible Beverage Service training within the past three years, something mandated of all employees who sell or serve alcohol. One employee of the eight who did sell to the minor had also participated in the training, but not within the past three years.
