Barich leads local efforts in Viking Classic track meet

Casa’s Adria Barich ran second in the 800-meter run to lead local efforts in the huge Viking Classic track meet.|

Petaluma and Casa Grande had several outstanding performance in the massive Viking Classic track meet held at Montgomery High School last week.

As usual, Casa Grande efforts were led by outstanding senior distance runner Adria Barich who finished second in the highly competitive varsity 800, running 2:21.85.

Other impressive efforts by the Gaucho girls included a third by Hannah Barlow in the girls varsity 100 in 12.96. and a third by Siena Wiger in the varsity 3200 in 12:02.3.

Casa Grande’s girls varsity 4x100 relay team was second in 50.25. Petaluma finished sixth in 53.04.

Petaluma’s Claire Peirce was an impressive second in the shot put at 31-09.

For the boys, Casa Grande’s Aaron Lu established a new Empire best with a 42.41 second in the boys 300-meter varsity hurdles.

Casa Grande’s boys 4x400 varsity relay team was a strong third in 3:33.24.

Petaluma’s Brendan O’Neill became the Sonoma County League leader, finishing fifth in the varsity long jump at 20-03.75. He was also seventh in the varsity triple jump at 40-00.

Other boys who performed well included: Casa Grande’s Mathew Mason, eighth in the boys varsity 100 in 11.59; Casa’s Dulio Froes ninth in the boys varsity 200 in 23.82; teammate Edwin Ajquity 10th in the same event in 23.83; The Gauchos’ Zachary Esponda, seventh in the boys varsity 800 and fourth in the varsity 1600 in 4:27.11; Petaluma’s Will Dunbar, seventh in the same event 4:30.06; the Trojans’ PJ Lynch, fifth in the boys open 1600 in 4:46.52; Casa Grande’s Noble Schleutrer, tied for seventh in the boys varsity high jump at 5-6.

Other girls who performed well included: the Gauchos’ Katherine Abel, seventh in the open 100 in 13.97; The Trojans’ Helena Abbott, seventh in the girls 400 open in 1:07.97; Casa Grande’s Kayla Briceno, eighth in the same event 1:08.74 and Petaluma’s Anastasia Rodriguez ninth in 1:08.30; Casa Grande’s Emma Moon, was fifth in the girls open 1600 in 5:50; and Casa’s Ana Petraglia, 10th in the girls varsity 300 hurdles in 51.63.

Casa Grande’s girls varsity 4x400 relay team was sixth in 4:31.07.
