Panther Pee Wees blank Rohnert Park

The Petaluma Pee Wee Panthers successfully opened their season last Sunday with a 12-0 win over the Rohnert Park Warriors.|

The Petaluma Pee Wee Panthers successfully opened their season last Sunday with a 12-0 win over the Rohnert Park Warriors in a game played a Rancho Cotate’s Cougar Stadium.

Panther quarterback Marcus Scott did a good job with the offense. Near the end of the first quarter, he intercepted a Warrior pass near the end zone to keep Rohnert Park scoreless.

Running back Toby Humphreys ran for two long touchdowns, both in the second quarter.

Defensive standouts included nose guard Nicholas Pfendler and linebackers Cody Rodrigo, Robby Almond and Joe Ellis.

Safety Jace Winthal’s interception on the final play of the game sealed the Panthers’ shutout.

This week, Petaluma will face the Ukiah Lions in Ukiah. Kickoff will be Sunday at 1 p.m.

In other Petaluma Panther games against Rohnert Park: the Mitey Mites won, 32-31; the Junior Pee Wees won, 18-6; the Junior Midgets lost, 12-6; and the Midgets won, 12-6.
