A majority of respondents to an online Argus-Courier poll said that they are concerned about the recent spate of marijuana-related home invasions in Sonoma County.

Here are some comments:

“It will only get worse. Add to that concern the report that of the thousands of pot growers in Sonoma County, only three are planning on going legal. It’s just like on that television show about moonshiners. They can go legal. They just don’t want to do the extra work and follow rules and laws and pay for the permits and pay the much lauded taxes. Pot growers and their buyers seem to think that they are growing tomatoes instead of producing a drug.”

“All you have to do is look at Google maps to find pot farms. Look at where the last couple invasions were on Google maps satellite view. Not hard to see where they are getting their information.”

“Criminals aren’t very bright to begin with, but even more so when they damage property and injure or kill innocent people because they target the wrong house. Living in close proximity to a suspected drug house, this has me very concerned for my safety.”

“If there is a demand to reduce gun violence, then there needs to be some form of control to boost security for any form of business of this substance. No licenses or permits should be approved without considering all avenues of risk and all neighbors involved.”

“In the long run, nothing good will come of making pot legal. Legal for some to get a good high without punishment, while the majority have been put in danger as the draw to Sonoma County brings out the worst in those wanting to source product for other areas.”

“Keep a shotgun handy, and keep your doors locked.”
