Petaluma’s Senior American Legion baseball team was scheduled to play its first game in the Western Regional Tournament in Denver.

Leghorn manager Casey Gilroy planned to start either Casa Grande’s Nik Kamages or Sonoma Valley’s Shane O’Malley on the mound for the Leghorns in their opening game against Nevada State champion Henderson.

The tournament includes champions from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Colorado and Utah, along with the California champion Leghorns and a host team from Denver.

The tournament continues through Sunday, with the winner advancing to the American Legion World Series in Shelby North Carolina.
