Petaluma girls lead VVAL golf

One-stroke win over Napa keeps Petaluma girls golf on top of VVAL standings.|

The Petaluma girls golf team survived its strongest challenge of the season to remain undefeated in the Vine Valley Athletic League last week.

Playing on their home course at Rooster Run, the Trojans edged Napa, 265-266, for their ninth consecutive league victory without a loss.

Lilly Catarozoli led the way for Petaluma with a 43. Oliva Zimmerman shot a 49, Channing Matthews a 51, Myra Brooks a 60 and Simone Smith a 62.

Devan Wickersham led Napa with a 44.

Playing for Casa Grande’s incomplete team, Jorday Baughn shot a 61 and Bella Husary a 64.

Earlier in the week, Petaluma rolled over Vintage, 232-302, in a match played at Vintners Golf Course in Yountville.

Catarozoli sizzled with a 37 to lead the Trojans. Matthews shot a 44, Brooks a 46, Kailea Howe a 54 and Zimmerman a 50.

Husary shot a 55 and Baughn a 62 for Casa Grande.
